CXT-WetJect™

About CXT-WetJect™

Carbonxt has developed a patented process to target air and water phase mercury through the injection of a customized sorbent directly into wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) systems. This technology has proven to be much more efficient for mercury removal compared to standard PAC injection into the air phase for a variety of reasons:

  • Cooler temperatures favor mercury adsorption kinetics,

  • Less competing species present that hinder mercury capture (such as SO3),

  • Recirculation of PAC in the WFGD system allows more contact time, thus reducing required rates.

In addition to the benefits mentioned above, this technology ensures fly ash salability for power plants by completely eliminating all PAC from the fly ash. This approach allows coal-fired power plants to achieve compliance limits for both Mercury Air Toxic Standards (MATS) and the Effluent Limitation Guideline (ELGs) using a single method. Carbonxt markets the WetJect™ technology as a complete package, including the specialized sorbent and required injection equipment.
